The man known as the “Greek Freak” is taking the NBA by storm as he is evolving into one of the young stars of the NBA.
Milwaukee Bucks forward, Giannis Antetokounmpo is currently producing numbers that are All-Star worthy.
Coming off a improving 2014/15 season where he averaged 17 points, 4 assists and 8 rebounds a season, Giannis has improved in basically every stat this season so far.
He is averaging 22 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 blocks and 2 steals a game in the first 16 matches which are big numbers.
He is primarily a small forward but with his passing skills, can play point guard or power forward because of his power on the court.
Giannis has amazing speed, agility, passing, shooting inside the 3 point line and rebound abilities which makes him hard to match up against.
Along with his smartness on the court, he can attack the basket with speed which is always difficult to stop and his dunks are sometimes vicious.
At 6 ft 11, it is highly rare to see someone have all these abilities and still only 21, he has some more development to do.
Giannis has improved defensively too as he is currently experiencing career highs in steals, blocks and defensive rebounds.
If there is one weakness in his game, it would be his three point shooting as he is currently shooting at 20% this season. Imagine in the next few seasons, he improves his three point shooting, he would be almost unstoppable on the court.
He has also matured and become more consistent. The last game against the Cleveland Cavaliers saw him match up against LeBron James and he outscored him by 12 in a 118-101 win. Giannis has outscored LeBron in 3 of the past 4 games when the two sides have met.
He is definitely in line for a spot in the All-Star game and this should not be questioned given his stats so far this season.
Giannis is entering his fourth season with the Bucks and is looking to guide his side into the Eastern playoffs. They sit in ninth right now but are starting to produce big wins and making a move into the top 8.
Still plenty of games to go but if he can continue his form right now, you can see the Bucks making the playoffs and maybe giving themselves a chance in cementing a spot in the Eastern Conference championship if everything goes to plan.
Giannis Antetokounmpo’s rise has been amazing so far and is not far away from becoming one of the stars of the NBA.
