Sam Mitchell And Trent Cotchin Are Awarded The 2012 Brownlow Medal

After a meeting held by the AFL commission today, Hawthorn’s Sam Mitchell and Richmond’s Trent Cotchin will both be awarded the 2012 Brownlow Medal.

This comes after Essendon’s Jobe Watson who was the actual winner, handed back the medal after controversy around the supplements program that happened that year of his win.

Mitchell and Cotchin finished equal second on 26 votes to Watson who won with 30 votes so they will now receive medals.

It is not the best way for Mitchell and Cotchin to win the medal after what has transpired but as they finished second in the count, it is only fair they get the award with both players having great seasons in 2012.
