Sydney’s Toby Nankervis has been traded to Richmond in exchange for pick 46.
Nankervis was drafted at pick 35 in the 2011 AFL Draft and has struggled to cement a spot in the Swans team.
The ruckman has only played 12 games in three years due to the likes of Kurt Tippett and Sam Naismith starting ahead of him.
Richmond have bolstered their ruck stocks with Nankervis who will help Shaun Hampson and Ivan Maric throughout next season but at the moment, Hampson would probably start ahead of him as first ruck.
However, Nankervis could be used as a forward and then go in the ruck to help Hampson so he should prove to be a valuable signing.
He is still inexperienced though with only 12 games to his belt so he will have to earn a first team spot.
With the reason of leaving Sydney was for more opportunity, he should be able to get that at Richmond if he works hard during pre season and be looking to show that he deserves a start in an AFL team.
