West Coast have pulled of one of the biggest trades in a while with signing reigning Hawthorn best and fairest player Sam Mitchell.
Hawthorn get picks 52, 70 and 88 while West Coast get picks 54 and 72 as part of the deal.
Mitchell 34, was drafted with pick 36 at the 2001 AFL Draft and has so far played 307 games and kicked 67 goals.
He has achieved a lot in his career. He is a 4 time premiership winner, 5 time best and fairest winner, 3 time All Australian and the rising star winner back in 2002.
There is no doubt that West Coast have signed a champion player who has won 4 premierships and 5 best and fairest awards for Hawthorn.
Given his age (34), he will likely play just one season and then move into coaching which can only be a great move for himself.
Coming off another best and fairest medal, he will fit straight into the team and help the likes of Matthew Priddis, Luke Shuey, Andrew Gaff, Dom Sheed and Chris Masten in the midfield.
This signing also shows that West Coast believe they can win a premiership next season. They should be thinking that as they have signed a quality player that can guide this West Coast team to premiership glory.
