Collingwood have completed the signing of Fremantle forward Chris Mayne for 4 years.
Fremantle will get a compensation as he was a free agent which is currently pick 23.
Mayne is the second free agent to sign for Collingwood with Daniel Wells signing yesterday from North Melbourne.
Mayne 27, was drafted back in the 2007 AFL draft with pick 40 and has played 172 games and kicked 196 goals.
He stated that it’s a fresh start him and it will be after a inconsistent 2016 season with Fremantle.
At his best, he is a sharpshooter, able to kick 30+ goals in a season, and able to apply great forward pressure though tackles and pressure acts which create goals, so Collingwood will hope he can bring that to the Magpies next season.
If Mayne can produce his form from the 2013 and 2014 seasons, the deal will be a success but it could be a failure for Collingwood if he continues his wave of form from last season.
