Portugal Win EURO 2016

Portugal have claimed their first ever European Championship after defeating host nation France 1-0 after extra time.

Portugal have only won 1 game after 90 minutes this whole competition while France have been in great form throughout the whole tournament and as a result were favourites to take out the final.

The task became even more difficult for Portugal after their star player, Cristiano Ronaldo was subbed off in the first half with a knee injury but with his help on the sidelines, they were able to hold out France for the 90 minutes to put the game into extra time.

In extra time, it was a tense battle and got tenser for France as striker Eder scored in the 109th minute to put Portugal 1-0 up. France did have some chances to equalise but Portugal were able to hold on and against the odds, win the final.

France will be disappointed that they were not able to take their opportunities on the big stage while Portugal will be celebrating for a while after the taste of their first European Championship as a nation.
