José Mourinho has completed his first signing as manager of Manchester United with Villarreal defender, Eric Bailly. He has signed a four year deal with subject to an extra two years added to his contract with a fee believed to be worth £30million ($60million).
Bailly joined Villarreal last season and played 47 matches for the Spanish club and has earned 15 caps so far for his country, Ivory Coast.
He is a strong centre back who is able to make strong tackles and is rather quick so he able to handle quicker strikers but also taller strikers with his strength and his height of 187 cm.
Bailly told ManUtd.com that it’s a dream come true to sign for Manchester United.
“To play football at the highest level is all I have ever wanted to do. I want to progress to be the best that I can be and I believe working with Jose Mourinho will help me develop in the right way and at the right club. I am looking forward to meeting my new team-mates and to starting this new chapter of my life.”
It looks like José Mourinho has detected that his squad’s weakness is the defence so this signing should help that. He is still only 22 and has raw talent but has plenty of potential so he will have time to develop into a consistent player. This has all the makings of a great signing for Manchester United and José Mourinho thinks that he will become one of the best defenders in the world.
