Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Granit Xhaka has reportedly signed for Aresnal for approximately £30m ($60m) and will be announced in the next coming days. If the fee is correct, he will be Arsenal’s third most expensive transfer behind Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez.
The Swiss midfielder flew in to London on Friday to complete his medical before flying to join up with his Switzerland National team ahead of the 2016 Euros in France starting June 10.
Xhaka joined Mönchengladbach back in 2012 from FC Basel and had become a consistent box to box midfielder with excellent technical skills and brought great leadership to the club. He is a tough player that does tend to play on the edge which may result in accumulating yellow and red cards throughout his career.
The 23 year old will add much needed depth for the central midfield position and more competition for fellow central midfielders like Aaron Ramsey, Mikel Arteta, Francis Coquelin, Mohammed El Nenny and Mathieu Falmini. Given the talent and the possible fee, Xhaka should be first choice for Arsenal next season and slot into their midfield.
