EPL Relegation Battle – Who survives?

With only a couple of matches remaining in the English Premier League this season, there are 3 teams that are still in relegation battle. Aston Villa has already been relegated and currently sitting on the bottom of the table. The other 2 relegation spots are still up for grabs. Sunderland, Newcastle and Norwich are trying to retain their places in the top flight but only one can survive. Here are the upcoming matches for all these teams.

17- Sunderland 35 points 2 games remaining

Sunderland have a midweek clash with Everton at home and then finish the season with an away match against Watford. After beating Chelsea last game, Sunderland will feel confident that they can grab at least one win in their last two matches which will be enough to secure their place in the Premier League for next season.

18- Newcastle United 34 points 1 game remaining

Newcastle will need to win their last match against Tottenham at home and rely on Sunderland to only gain 1 point in their last two games. It will not be easy to beat Tottenham but they are playing at home and they tend to do well in front of their home crowd when big matches occurs so they have a slight chance at the moment to stay up.

19- Norwich City 31 points 2 games remaining

Norwich have a midweek match with Watford at home and then Everton away for their final match of the season. After coming off a 1-0 loss to Manchester United, Norwich look on the verge of being relegated as they need to win their last 2 matches. Even though their opponents are against teams that have not been in their best form of recent, it will take a mighty effort to find a way to not be relegated.

Judging from the opponents, points and the amount of matches they have, Sunderland will be the favourite to retain their place in the Premier League. They have Everton and Watford who they can get points from and will be confident after beating Chelsea 3-2 last game. They are 1 point out of relegation which is an advantage. Newcastle are only a point behind Sunderland but getting a win against second placed Tottenham will be a tough ask but you never know in the EPL. Norwich have 2 games left like Sunderland but are 4 points away from relegation so they have to win both matches to give themselves any chance of winning. It could shape up to be an interesting end to this EPL season in terms of the relegation battle.
