Sevilla won 5-3 on aggregate

Sevilla are through to their third consecutive Europa League final after defeating Shakhtar Donetsk 3-1. Sevilla started well with striker Kevin Gameiro scoring in the 9th minute to give Sevilla a 1-0 lead. However just before halftime, Eduardo scored to level up the scores and give Shakhtar some hope heading into the second half. The second half was dominated by Sevilla and when Gameiro scored his second in the 47th minute, the game looked over. Mariano Ferriera secured the tie with a goal in the 59th minute to win the tie for Sevilla and proceed to yet another Europa League Final

Liverpool won 3-1 on aggregate

Liverpool were able to overcome a 1 goal deficit in the first leg to win 3-0 to book themselves into the Europa League Final. It did not start very well for Villarreal when Bruno Soriano scored an own goal in the 7th minute to level the tie. Liverpool came out firing and put plenty of pressure on their opposition but the score stayed at 1-0 at halftime. In the second half, Daniel Sturridge scored in the 63rd minute to double Liverpool’s lead. Then in the 71st minute, Villarreal were down to 10 men due to a second yellow card by Victor Ruiz. Adam Lallana sealed the victory with a goal in the 81st minute to give Liverpool a 3-1 aggregate lead. The match finished at 3-0 and Liverpool are in their first Europa League final since 2001.

Sevilla and Liverpool will face off in the Europa League Final in Basel on May 19
