Danny Willett claims 2016 US Masters

Englishmen Danny Willett has won his first US Masters tournament after finishing first with a score of 5 under. He scored a 67 in the final round to set up the victory.

Defending champion and club leader heading into the last round, Jordan Spieth was doing well until horror at the start of the back 9. He bogeyed the 10th and 11th holes and then quadruple bogeyed the 12th hole to give Willett a comfortable lead. He worked hard to come back with a couple of birdies but the damage had been done.

Lee Westwood had a good final round with a score of 69 to finish in the top 3 while Paul Casey finished strong as well with a score of 67 to be tied in 4th place with J.B Holmes and Dustin Johnson.

It was Willett’s day to savour and a well deserved champion after his brilliant final round performance.
