Borussia Dortmund have plenty of negotiations ahead of them if they want to keep their superstars at Signal Iduna Park.
Marco Reus, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Mats Hummels, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and İlkay Gündoğan have been linked with moves away from the club and that is no surprise given the quality of these individuals.
Reus has been linked with Real Madrid, Barcelona, Liverpool and Manchester United but will most likely stay as he recently signed a contract extension with the club and was born in Dortmund.
Aubameyang’s season has kept other big clubs on notice with 36 goals in 38 appearances in all competitions so far. Despite links with Arsenal, Manchester United and Real Madrid, Aubameyang looks like he will stay next season at Dortmund as he is doing wonders right now and with the team likely to be in Champions League next season, it will take plenty of persuading to lure him away.
Hummels has been linked with Manchester United in the past few seasons and his consistent performances at centre back has made him an important player for Dortmund. As he is the current captain and an important cog of the team, it will be hard for him to leave at this moment.
Mkhitaryan has been a great player since he joined the club a few seasons ago. His playmaking and goalscoring ability has made him a dangerous player for the team. There have been rumours that Arsenal are making Mkhitaryan their number one priority and this transfer could be possible if Arsene Wenger wants to make an offer during the summer transfer period.
There are reports that Gündoğan refused a contract extension with the club which makes it likely that he will leave. His contract does not expire until the end of next season but I am sure Dortmund do not want him to leave on a free transfer so they may cash in on him at the end of this season. Barcelona, Real Madrid and many top Premier League clubs have been interested in his services and come the transfer window, you may see him leave.
Dortmund have to do their best to retain all of these players as they are all quality players and important assets to this team. They have helped them dominate many teams this season as they currently sit in 2nd place in the Bundesliga, 5 points behind Bayern Munich and have just recently made it through to the Quarter Finals of the Europa League.
Ideally, if they can keep Reus, Aubameyang, Hummels and Mkhitaryan for the next season and find a worthy replacement if Gündoğan decides to leave, then Dortmund will continue to dominate next season and give themselves a chance at winning the Bundesliga.
