UFC 196

In 3 days, UFC 196 rolls into Las Vegas with the Promoter’s Dream and current Featherweight Champion of the World Connor McGregor steps into the Octagon against Nate Diaz. The second title fight of the night sees Women’s Bantamweight Champion Holly Holm defends her title against Meisha Tate.

Originally a champion V champion bout with McGregor to face Lightweight Champion Rafael Dos Anjos – Diaz stepped up to replace the latter after he broke his foot. With the short turn around, this is now a catchweight fight for the Featherweight Title. Promising to be a showstopper, McGregor’s athleticism and movement goes up against Diaz’s endurance and toughness.

The Bantamweight Title fight promises intrigue – with Holly having stunned the world by  knocking Ronda Rousey off the throne of women’s MMA, she goes up against the tough-as-nail’s Meisha Tate. Both women have a point to prove, Holly wants to show she’s not a one-hit wonder and Meisha wants to get back to the top that’s been dominated for so long by one person.

The main card is rounded out by Gian Villante V Ilir Latifi, Cory Anderson V Tom Lawlor and Amanda Nunes V Valentina Shevchenko. Whilst Brandon Thatch and Erik Silva throw down on the undercard against Siyar Bahadurzada and Nordine Taleb respectively.

A stacked card – it promises to bring the fireworks, and with McGregor on the card, there’s no doubt the press conferences will be dynamite.

My Tips:

McGregor, Holm, Villante, Lawlor & Nunes

Tune in and find out, March 5th on PPV
